Create your own Oasis

Everyone needs their own Oasis. A place to relax, To meditate, To enjoy that first sip of coffee, or that last sip of wine.
It doesn’t matter if its a small patio or a large backyard. Just add some things that you love. Like a comfortable chair to sit in or a large pillow. A wind chime will add some nice sounds, Flowers your favorite color, a comical gnome or any garden statue that is to your liking.
I am fortunate enough to have several around my home. In my backyard I have a fish pond with a comical frog statue. The sound of the water fountain and the morning sun, it’s a perfect place for my favorite coffee. My front porch faces the evening sun – I try to take in the sunset a few times a week even it is just for a couple of minutes.
I also like to place pots of flowers and other garden décor where they are visible from the windows. So if I am stuck inside I can still gaze outside and still see them. Working from home is a blessing most of the time. But when I’m stuck and need to get the creative juices flowing, I just focus on what’s outside the window. Usually a smile will come on my face and I good to go again.
If all you have is a patio or balcony you can still create some lovely surroundings with a few potted plants and garden statues. Be careful though and don’t go overboard. I have a friend who once decorated her balcony with a darling collection of little gnomes and flowers. Her only problem was she left no place to sit. She didn’t really care though, because sitting inside and looking outside was more her thing. She loves to look at nature but didn’t want to be out in it. You know all those bugs and flying things.
Having your own place to relax and get together with family and friends is one of life’s greatest enjoyments! There is nothing better than firing up the grill, having ice cold drinks and the people you love with you. What a great way to spend some time. Life is good.
Until next time.
